Let me simplify chords for you a little bit by telling you that on the piano there are only four augmented chords. Check it out. We build an augmented chord by stacking major thirds on top of each other and you can get away with this with three notes.
But by the time you add the fourth, youâre back to the note you started with. Invert these chords by bringing the bottom note up to the top and youâll realize there is no difference between a C augmented and E augmented or a G sharp augmented. That single chord takes care of three out of the twelve notes in the keyboard.
C sharp, D and D sharp will take care of the rest because after that weâre back to E again. If youâre stuck on a scale to play over this, itâs just as easy. Just stack a second augmented chord, a half step above the first and Bobâs your uncle.
