Beat Kitchen in Seattle

Nathan is based out of Seattle, and so are a number of our instructors and residents. That makes this the closest thing Beat Kitchen has to a home base. Our music production classes meet live on Discord in small groups, and when we bring things offline for in-person workshops and studio sessions, Seattle is where it happens first.

The Scene Here

Seattle has a deep musical history — Quincy Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana — but what keeps the city interesting for music production is what is happening right now. There is an active modular synth community, a growing scene of bedroom producers and electronic artists, and a tech culture that bleeds into creative tools and audio engineering. Beat Kitchen grew out of that overlap.

How Beat Kitchen Works

Beat Kitchen is a music production school that functions like a residency. It is a lab for you to work through your ideas in a creative and supportive environment. Our artist-instructors teach beat making, songwriting, digital production, mixing, synthesis, sound design, and recording techniques — all live, in small groups.

You study from your own setup at home, which means the production skills you develop translate directly to your workflow. We have partnerships with recording studios in the Seattle area and are always looking to grow those relationships for live workshops and in-person sessions.
