Primary Skills Collection

Each of these wonderful platforms are your canvas. You will need command over one of them to create. Here at Beat Kitchen Music Production School, we'll help you get started in any of them. Reach out to us if you need help choosing. This course will get you up and running in the shortest amount of time possible so that you can enjoy the later courses (or just go off on your own and produce your own music). But it all begins by choosing one of these music making apps.

Core Skills Collection

Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio are great places to begin. It's time to turn your attention to the foundations of making your own music. ach course builds off the knowledge you will have built in the Core Skills program. If you already feel confident in your DAW, you can just start here.

Kitchens Collection

We are master-chefs: producers who don't need a recipe. But these short tactical classes are as close to a formula as you are going to get. You won't find these classes in a typical recording school. We will teach you genre-specific techniques, used by top producers, that deliver results. We think these tools are important for everyone. Don't shy away from the orchestra if you are into hip-hop. You may need to create your own samples someday. If you are making music 'in-the-box', this is your opportunity to learn how to produce a great vocal with a fantastic vocalist. Learn how to approach a film-scoring gig or refine your drum programming so your parts sound like they were actually played by live musicians.

Master Classes Collection

Not a beginner anymore? These music production classes aren't for rookies. Dive deep into audio engineering, mixing, mastering, sound-design and songwriting with our experts. Don't worry. You are prepared for this now! We've got you!

Incubators & Jams Collection

This is where we work! Incubators are designed to supplement classes with the kinds of interactive problem solving that just won't fit in any curriculum. Incubators help you generate songs, mixes, and solve problems. They are also an equalizer in that they are useful forcing factors that are helpful to producers at all experience levels.

Residency

Beat Kitchen Residency comes with different options to fit your budget and needs. Choose from Annual, Quarterly, or Monthly residency plans to access our complete community of live training, mentorship, and collaboration.

Residency: The Heart of Beat Kitchen

Residency is your all-access pass to the heart of Beat Kitchen—a membership that offers the structure, support, and community your music deserves. Get free weekly access to our live training gyms, including music production, ear training, theory, and instrument workouts, plus office hours and our private Discord group. You'll also unlock discounted pricing on add-on sessions and events. It's everything that makes Beat Kitchen different: live learning, real collaboration, and direct connection with artists, instructors, and fellow producers.

Office Hours

Every week, we open our doors for office hours—your regular check-in with the Beat Kitchen community. These sessions are included with your residency and hosted by our instructors, who are all working professionals in the music industry.

Office hours are intentionally unstructured. Come with specific questions about a track you're working on, technical challenges, or just sit in and learn from what other residents are discussing. Maybe you're stuck on a mix, curious about a plugin, or want feedback on a new idea—this is your time to tap into the collective knowledge of both instructors and fellow residents.

Music Theory Gym

Music Theory Gym is where we take the songs you love and figure out what makes them tick. Residents suggest tracks they're curious about, and together we break them down to their musical core—dissecting chord progressions, analyzing harmonic choices, and understanding why certain combinations create the emotional impact they do.

This isn't about memorizing scales in isolation. We start with real music that moves you, then work backwards to understand the theory behind it. Our instructors guide the session, but everyone contributes observations and questions as we rebuild the song piece by piece, discovering techniques you can apply to your own work.

Production Gym

Music Production Gym is where we dive into the craft of making music—from the gear in your hands to the final master. Each session tackles a different aspect of production, whether that's exploring microphone techniques, understanding hardware workflows, diving into composition approaches, or demystifying the mastering process.

Our instructors come prepared with a topic, but these sessions have a life of their own. A discussion about compressor settings might evolve into a deep dive on drum programming, or a mixing session might shift toward creative sampling techniques. The collaborative format means we follow the curiosity and questions in the room, and you'll walk away with practical insights you can apply immediately.

Instrument Gym

Instrument Gym is where we get hands-on with the physical side of making music. Whether it's developing keyboard chops, working on guitar techniques, or diving into percussion practice, these sessions focus on building the instrumental skills that bring your productions to life.

We work collectively over live Discord video, so you can see techniques in action and practice alongside other residents. Our instructors demonstrate approaches and guide the session, but everyone participates—sharing what they're working on, asking questions, and learning from each other's playing styles. You'll develop not just technical skills, but the confidence to incorporate live instruments into your creative process.

Ear Training Gym

Ear Training Gym is where we develop your most important musical tool—your ability to hear and identify what's happening in music. We practice identifying notes, intervals, and chord structures, but always in the context of real songs and sounds rather than abstract exercises.

Our instructors guide you through listening exercises that build your ear step by step, while residents work together to decode what they're hearing. You'll learn to recognize chord progressions in your favorite tracks, identify intervals in melodies, and understand how different harmonic structures create specific moods. These skills translate directly into better production decisions and more confident musical choices.

Weekly 'Beat' Review

Weekly Beat Review keeps your creative momentum flowing by giving you a regular outlet to share your work. Submit an idea, a work in progress, or something that's finished—whatever you've been creating that week. The goal is to stay inspired and motivated to write something new, maybe even two things, every single week.

This isn't about polished perfection; it's about consistent creativity and getting feedback in a supportive environment. Residents share their submissions, discuss what's working, what challenges they're facing, and celebrate progress together. You'll discover that having a weekly deadline and an audience of fellow creators pushes you to experiment, finish ideas, and keep your creative practice active.
