Help Us Sponsor a Scholar
At Beat Kitchen, our mission is to shape the next wave of creative music-makers while making our programs accessible to all. We recognize the barriers and imbalances in the music industry and are committed to offering opportunities to those who might not otherwise have access.
If tuition is a barrier, we encourage you to apply. Our team regularly contributes to a scholarship pool to open subsidized seats in our labs. We ask applicants to share their story, the course they’d like to take, and what they can reasonably contribute.
We especially aim to support students from underrepresented communities — including Black, Indigenous, racialized, gendered, disabled, Queer, and trans creators — though anyone facing financial barriers is welcome to apply.
Our scholarship program is sustained by our team, our partners, and our community. If you’re able, we invite you to donate time, money, or skills to help us expand access.
Together, we can shape an imaginative, equitable, and transformative artistic future.
Sponsor a Scholar
Our scholarship program depends on the generosity of supporters who share our vision. If you’d like to help someone access music and production education, please consider sponsoring a scholar. We don’t endorse manufacturers, but we are always grateful to those who make this work possible.
Scholarships at Beat Kitchen
We believe cost should never be the barrier to making music. That’s why Beat Kitchen offers two kinds of scholarships:
Sponsored Residency
Sponsored Residency is how we make sure things like Office Hours and Gym stay within reach for people who couldn’t otherwise afford residency. We grant at least one a year, and our partners sponsor additional ones. Sponsored residents get all the benefits of annual residents, including the ability to purchase classes at the resident price.
Community is what makes this place work — it matters as much to our instructors as it does to our students. That’s why many of them choose to donate time toward making sponsored residency a reality. We also create dedicated scholarship events like the Roberta Flack Memorial Scholarship, honoring Ms. Flack’s musical life and achievements and timed to coincide with Black History Month.
Current sponsors include:

Sponsored members count toward class enrollment numbers, which helps ensure a class will run. This is not the case with pay-what-you-can.
Pay-What-You-Can
When there are open seats in a class that’s already running, we may offer them on a pay-what-you-can basis. If that interests you, look through our Programs and submit a good-faith proposal for what you can afford.
Pay-what-you-can students do not count toward class enrollment numbers.
