Mix Incubator

Your lab for carrying a track across the finish line

An incubator is your lab — where you put what you learn in class to work on real material, with feedback from rotating instructors and your peers. But it’s also a forcing function: the whole pipeline is pointless if the song never ships. So bring the track you built in the Production or Recording Incubator, and the goal is momentum — leave with a mix complete enough to release or master.

It’s context-based instruction: a variety of instructors week to week, with one or two of you presenting. Come whether or not you’re presenting — the puzzles we solve are universally useful and your feedback is valuable.

Prerequisites: Basic understanding of mixing and arrangement — Mix Primer or equivalent. You should have a song in progress that resembles a draft mix. If not, start with the Songwriting Incubator.

I recently took a music theory workshop with Nathan. He is super knowledgeable and also a great teacher. Music theory is often confusing and intimidating for me but he used a lot of great analogies to make the concepts more digestible.
