It’s a shame to talk over this beautiful song by Emma Harner. You should check it out. But it’s also useful to be able to count higher than 5 on your fingers, because this song is in 7.
If you use your fingers for 1 through 4 and your thumbs for 5, you can count to 9 on one hand. If you use the left hand for the 10s, you can count to 99. And it’s useful for things like tracking complicated time signatures.
