Think of an artist that you admire, and in the comment below, share what you think is their worst work. It doesnât matter who you are, everybodyâs capable of producing a clunker. The purpose of this is not to shame anybody, itâs the opposite.
Itâs to celebrate the fact that they swung at the ball even though they may not have hit it. I want to remind you that youâre no different. When you go back and examine something you made, you may not like it anymore, but even our heroes couldnât predict whether their works would stand the test of time.
We only know that with 2020 hindsight. So why would you hold yourself to a different standard? And if this helps you, remember that there was a time when you made that thing and it felt good to you.
If it doesnât feel good to you now, chances are youâre thinking about yourself. Iâve got news for you. The person whoâs going to digest your work isnât thinking about you.
Theyâre thinking about themselves. If you liked it once, they might like it too. If not, youâre in the company of greatness, and you can share that with somebody who belongs in a Beat Kitchen class.
