Should I be concerned that the top part of this waveform is bigger than the bottom? This is what’s known as an asymmetrical waveform, and it’s perfectly normal with things like close-miked vocals and horns. It occurs because as the sound exits my voice, there is more energy in the compression side of the waveform than there is in the rarefaction side.

It’s nothing to be concerned about, and it generally doesn’t need to be corrected.
