This is Ernie, and Ernie was my mentor, and what you don’t see in this photo is the twinkle in his eye when he told me that you could play any three notes and it would be a chord. He looked like the cat who ate the canary when he said it, and while you can debate me on whether it’s true or not, the important thing is that little statement sparked a curiosity that I’ve held my entire life. So if you don’t already have a mentor, I urge you to be one.

You don’t know whose life you can change, and there’s nothing more gratifying than being generous with someone and sharing something that. It’s why I started this school, and we should all be someone’s Ernie. You can share that with someone who belongs in a Beat Kitchen class.
