Fluency on an instrument, beat making, these aren’t things you achieve. Musical fluency is more like happiness in that it’s a state that you experience. If you’re frustrated with your own abilities or bored with your own vocabulary, think back to a time when those things were unattainable to you.
I guarantee you that despite all the showcasing, all the glamour, and all the legitimate talent that you see around you, those people feel exactly like you. I don’t care who they are or how amazing their lives look, they get stuck. And then, with some work and maybe a little help, they have a breakthrough.
