Major, minor, or diminished. In the key of C, you can learn this pretty much instantly. I call this the claw.
Take that structure and move it up the keyboard. The first interval between your thumb and pointer is going to tell you if it’s major or minor. If there’s two black notes in between, it’s major.
If there’s only one, it’s minor. For what it’s worth, the only major ones are here, here, and here. So if you’re wondering, that means the rest of them are minor.
Kinda. So while all these are major on the bottom and minor on the top, or minor on the bottom and major on the top, this one is the most special of all. It’s minor on the bottom and minor on the top.
That’s right. It’s diminished. That wasn’t so hard, was it?
