If you’re just turning knobs until things sound good, you’re relying a little bit on luck. And there is nothing wrong with poking around to find the note that feels right. And there’s nothing wrong with spinning dials until you find the sound you like.
But there’s also nothing wrong with understanding why those things work. Understanding your tools and understanding music theory are both a big part of approaching your music production with intent. And it’s going to save you time.
Knowing what you’re doing shouldn’t suck the joy out of doing it. There is no music production without music. And so it be kitchen.
