Here’s a follow-up to the phase inversion trick I shared with you the other day to get you untethered from your headphones It works on a similar principle, but it’s a little different in this scenario. I have a track playing in the background It’s coming through loud and proud of my studio monitors while I’m using this microphone But what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna rerecord it and I mustn’t touch anything This needs to stay in place and in fact I should probably stay where I am because any disruption at all will minimize the phase case We’re gonna get reinjected into our mix and invert the polarity first. Let’s listen to it on its own In this scenario I have a track playing in the background, okay now let’s rerecord the music track You the music track put these two together.

We’ll bring it back to the top with this plug-in to invert the phase In this scenario, I have a track playing and now hear it with In This scenario I have a track playing in the background We should expect to see a few DB of gain reduction due to the destructive interference. Let’s give it a listen Pretty cool and before everybody gets mad at me I’ve got nothing against headphones but in my view music production is about meeting unexpected problems with creative solutions That’s what we’re all about here.
