Jack Nietzsche used to say, “Reverb is like garlic.” You can never have too much. At least that’s what I’ve been telling people for like 20 years, because the person who told me that was Elliot Mazer, equally quotable, but either way, I can’t find that citation anywhere. I’m not a name dropper.
By now everybody here is here because of the merit of my ideas above anything else. But I’m telling you this because regardless of whether that quote is true or not, I might be the single source of truth for that quote. Let me put it this way.
I bought this Fender roads in 1991 for $265. But you can just buy one of these today. The knowledge you pick up from the people you surround yourself with will become far scarcer.
As you get older, it will appreciate and it will be the reserve you draw from constantly. And if you’re the only one who knows it, its value is immeasurable. Invest in yourself, not just in your stuff.
And someday when you are the single source of truth for a piece of information, share it generously.
