Should I care about poly chords? Well let’s pop the hood and you decide. Most of these are poly chords.
But the one we’re concerned with is that one. First of all, poly chord is just a fancy way of saying two chords at the same time. Here we’re looking at a G7 chord.
It also has a 13 and a flat 9. But it’s in the voicing where this really comes to life because within this G shape we find ourselves an E chord. It’s implying these two distant tonalities at the same time. I’ve chosen to voice it like this. In context, I think it’s lovely. So poly chords.
