If you need to soundproof, do one of three things. Go out and buy the cheapest stuff you can find. Go buy the most beautiful stuff you can find.
Or go find the stuff that’s gonna sound the best in your room and then don’t put it up right away. And the reason is, it’s not gonna work. Soundproofing something properly, it’s labor intensive and it’s not cheap.
It probably has like two or three more zeros than all of you are anticipating. But the reason you shouldn’t put that stuff up right away, the same reason you’re confused about it, your neighbors probably are too. Wait for them to complain, then put up all your nice looking, good sounding stuff and they’ll probably think you made an improvement.
