What came first? The musician or the instrument? It sounds a lot like the chicken and the egg question, which actually I think has been settled.
From an evolutionary standpoint, the first chicken came from an egg that was laid by a reptile. And the reptile stopped being the reptile with the egg. And by that logic, the first musician was born out of the human desire to express oneself, which required finding one’s voice.
You’re the musician, the instrument comes second.
