This little unsung hero is part of my workflow in Logic and it’s called Create Track. Now Logic is kind enough to automatically create destinations for things like your buses, but it doesn’t necessarily put them where you want them. The best way I know to move them around is to get them to show up in the tracks area like this.
This means you can do things like edit the automation for them and organize them. This technique also allows you to make sure utilitarian objects like your playback channel or the instrument responsible for playing your metronome click are accessible in your mixer. By the way, that instrument is called the Klopgeist.
My understanding is that it means click ghost. It’s been around since the earliest days of Logic back when it was owned by a German company called eMagic. Getting access to that instrument in your template is going to allow you to do things like pan the click into one ear or send it to an aux for a drummer or I suppose you could put some reverb on it.
It’s up to you. We don’t usually share tips like this that aren’t evergreen, but I’ve got a Logic class coming up in a few days and I’m trying to convince some of you to join it. So if someone who belongs in it, share this post.
