Raise your hand if you get stuck finishing a song. You’re not the only one. Then my advice to you is pretty simple.
You need to practice finishing, just like you have to practice everything else. If you have a whole bunch of songs started, stitch them together, put a fork in it, ship it. Be comfortable with the idea that in the beginning, not everything’s gonna be good.
They’re your songs, and there’s no rule that says you can’t go back to them and fix them later. But until you practice walking that thing to the door, you’re gonna keep tripping along the way. Duke Ellington once said, “I don’t need time.
I need a deadline.” If you wanna get better at finishing your songs, in your heart, you probably know what you need to do. And if you could use an extra hand, or someone else who belongs in a Beat Kitchen class, be sure to share this post.
