Recent Resident Gyms
- INSTRUMENT-GYM: We started with Hanon's exercises for piano, and then we looked at some of Wesley's pieces on piano that he is practicing and relearning. We discussed tempo, and phrasing for his practice.
- OFFICE HOURS: We talked about some of our favorite live performances and a little about music production
- OFFICE HOURS: Did a mix critique of one of his songs. Topics discussed: The importance of arranging Working with a trusted monitor setup Listening Objectivity The 10,000 hours
- PRODUCTION-GYM: We listened to guns and roses
- PRODUCTION-GYM: Mother by Pink Floyd and also ABC by The Jackson 5 Discussed a multitude of music production topics and answered questions from them both
- THEORY-GYM: Kathleen Edwards - Buffalo: Charted out the chords, analyzed verse melody. Topics included using a third in the bass and Melody notes like 7ths over triads
- THEORY-GYM: Using stereo and mid-side engineering techniques to analyze Jason Lowenstein's 'More Drugs' song that appears to be in more than one key at once!
- INSTRUMENT-GYM: Simple I IV V inversions in multiple keys. Adding minor 9 chords and developing rootless voicings
- OFFICE HOURS: we talked about sound treatment and snares
